BOOMERANGALWAYS COMES BACK No. 10, November/December, 2008.

Ho! Ho! Ho! Yes, it is that festive time of year again. What a happy, successful year we have had at Asquith – lots of social and competitive bowling and great times with friends. Don’t forget our last function for 2008, the Christmas luncheon and concert, is on 16th December, table list is on the board at the club.

STATE/DISTRICT EVENTS Asquith team, Lorraine, Narelle, Diane and Bev, ( Marion was unable to play ) played in State Finals of the Wolinski Shield at Warilla on 10/11th November. Well done for a great effort. The sky is the limit next year.

As the Lorna Atkinson Trophy has been discontinued, a Group challenge format has been instigated for 2009. Nine ladies from Asquith have been chosen to try out for the opportunity to represent M district in this Competition. They are L.Bulmer, S.Andrew, N.Crump, H.Maloney, B.Davis, J.Wilson, V.Henderson, M.Khamis and J.Bennett. Eight players will be selected to play against other Groups.

Delegates’ & Presentation Day A great day was enjoyed, with Asquith again having a successful year.

Thought for the Month If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it will always be yours. If it doesn’t come back, it was never yours to begin with. But if it just sits in your living room, eats your food, uses the phone, and doesn’t appear to realize that you have set it free – you either married it or gave birth to it.

President’s Day and Club Birthday on 30th September was a great day. Everyone enjoyed the bowls and the company and we hope that Pres. Coral has happy memories of her day. Many, many thanks to all who helped in any way to the success of the occasion.

When an Umpire is called to measure, it is courteous to retire to the bank. Peering over an umpire’s shoulder does not, in any way, affect the result. Likewise when thirds are measuring and declaring the result of a head, ALL other players should be on the bank and take no part in the discussion.
